Trip to the city

Well it was a normal run of the mill day in Western Australia. The sun was out, we had clear blue sky and the politicians were doing what all good pollies do....... nothing. As your's truly with two of the kiddies in tow, went for a walkabout around Perth city.
First we caught a train from Midland into the city, then our first stop was to the Western Australian Museum. Now it might sound strange me being in a museum but this one is pretty cool. We had a gander at the Dinosaur bones section where you can see the photo of the T REX behind the kiddies. As you know history tells us that millions of years ago (a fair bit back) the dinosaurs roamed the earth eating, killing, and wrapping there laughing gear around anything that moved..... a bit like a planet full of Mother-in-laws!. Sorry about that I really do love me mother-in-law, in fact I just paid for her to go on a holiday overseas, okay it might of been a trip to IRAQ but still..... it's the thought that counts.
So we were having a gander at the dinosaur bones when we went into a cave with aboriginal rock drawings. As you can see this drawing in the photo was a self portrait of Andrew Symonds and Michael Hussey.
Then we went into the animal section were thay have a collection of stuffed animals and a bunch of animal bones. In this photo we have the kiddies cuddling up to a killer python.... a bit like the missus in bed at night, ha,ha. Sorry about that got a bit carried away. But the museum is a bloody beauty, its got heaps of stuff for the kiddys to have a gander at. Its also got a room for the little nevilles to get there hands dirty, drawing pictures and colouring them in. So after wondering about for awhile we left the museum and caught a free bus (the black cat) through the city and down to the Barrack street jetty. Where we caught a ferry across the Swan river to the South Perth esplanade and a nice little walk to Sir James Mitchell Park. There's a few swings for the kiddies and its a nice walk and a beaut view of the city. Every walkabout we go on we have a picnic packed for us and this was no exception. So we found a park bench and had a scrumptious picnic made up of ham sandwiches, a few cookies and washed down with a glass of orange juice. So with out tummys full and leaving behind a beaut view of the city we caught the ferry back to the Barrack street jetty. We had a gander at the Bell Tower and sneaked in a pack of hot chips at the jetty (their tummys are never full this mob). Then had a walk up through the Stirling Gardens and then to the Hay street mall for some window shopping. By now the sun was on it's way down so it was time to say goodbye to the sights of the city and head back to the train station and back to Midland.
