Wildflowers Festival

The start of the day was just beaut so I chucked the kiddies into 'old fordie' grabbed a couple of water bottles and started the drive into Perth city. The drive in went quick and before you could say 'Bob's ya uncle' we were at King's Park. This was the very first annual Wildflower Festival which runs from the 1st of September to the 1st of October.

Each weekend they have a different theme from Father's day, Great granny and Gramps Gumboot gardening day, Djilba Bush Life and finally Wild Fairyland Festival. We went to the Djilba Bush Life which was held at the Botanic Gardens which was just flamin' amazing mate, it was a celebration of everything Australian. There was whip cracking and sheep shearing, caravan and camping displays, and even a bloke doing some fishing in a bloody big water tank.
There was a kiddie show all about growing Australian Natives in ya backyard instead of all those imported stuff that loves water. The show as real beaut and all the kiddies got a chance to get up and have a go so it was just great.

We went walkabout along the Botanic Garden walkway which connects to the see-threw bridge, the kiddies loved the bridge and you can see views of the Swan river as you pass over it. Then after a short walk threw the bush you come to the Water Gardens then back to the Botanic Gardens again.

Now here is a photo of a beaut little aussie native flower called FEDERATION FLAME KANGAROO PAW which was developed by the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, pretty cool hay.

We then went to the War Memorial and had a gander at the beaut view of Perth city and the Swan River, and just luckily for us their was a small Bagpipe band playing.....well bagpipes (Derrr). So we sat down to have a listen and the kiddies loved it, well their you go, they were bloody good too and so we stayed for about five songs then they packed up, and so did we and started the walk back to the van. So that was our day out at Kings Park and you could easily say that me and the kiddies had a flamin' beaut day out.
